Street is a large Somerset village situated at the foot of the Polden Hills, just across the River Brue from Glastonbury. Although its history stretches back much further, the village became particularly associated with the development of the Clarks footwear company, which grew from a local shoemaking business into an internationally recognised brand. Today, Street combines its distinctive industrial heritage with a busy retail centre, independent businesses, community facilities and easy access to the surrounding countryside. Its close relationship with neighbouring Glastonbury also makes it an important part of this part of Somerset.
